I'll see you that bit of munchkitude and raise you. This weekend, the group (~9th-10th level) got ambushed by a jarilith, a 10 HD, CR 13 demon from the MM2. The monster, which is basically a lion from hell, charges out from cover and pounces on the knight, mauling him severely. Then it beats everyone on initiative, and knocks him down to about 3 hit points. The berserker, knowing that he needs to do something exceptional or the knight is dead, decides to go all-out and Power Attack for max, in hopes of getting the thing's attention. His first attack is a critical with a +2 keen greatsword for about 60 points of damage. So we're all like, holy frick, that got its attention all right. So what happens next? His second attack roll of course has to be a natural 20, followed by an 18 to confirm, and 70 points of damage. Can you say, demon salsa? In one round, the guy took down a 130 hp melee brute with two hits. Didn't even break a sweat. Then there's the tale of how he shapechanged into a dire werewolf with the aid of an artifact, and proceeded to lay the smackdown on a whole bunch of bloodmages, or how the priest conjured a wall of iron on top of a tower roof, had it fall down three storeys, and crush a hapless infernal plot device. But that might risk painting me as a monty haul DM, so I'll just stop here.
