The French use the LaCroix SPHINX-MODER Perimeter Defense System, a triple-barrel grenade launcher that can target things in a 155 degree arc, firing fragmentation, CS gas, or an audible siren warning round.</p><p></p><p>Another option is to use remote sentry guns, rather than automatic sentry guns. With these, a staff in a control center can monitor the entire security system and manually target and operate the guns via remote control as needed. The latest crop of these remote sentry systems are especially hazardous to a target because they are not only extremely accurate, but they are highly mobile as well, being built into all manner of robotic tracked vehicles and even ATVs. So even if the infiltrators manage to take out all the guns in one sector, guns from other sectors can be moved in and deployed in the disarmed sector in a matter of minutes.</p><p></p><p>Currently, automated sentry guns have about a 60% chance of hitting a living target it is aiming at. remote sentry guns, thanks to human guidance, run at about an 85% chance to hit. A few of the remote sentry gun systems, like that of the TRAP, are accurate enough to be used as long range remote sniping systems.
