Seeking Battle Commander Mage

Hi there, I am currently running an Irron Kingdoms game and my wizard player will be looking towards commanding units, including Steamjacks on the battlefield. Has anyone house ruled a prestige class approriate for use on the battlefield, or know of one I could purchase? I'm not so worried about the steamjack portion of the class, or massivly destructive spells but more oriented towards command.

So if you know of a good fit, know where I can find a publshed one, or have some good ideas for abilities and skills, let me know, please.

The splatbook for Clerics, et al. from WotC has a WarPriest that you could take the basics of and transform for a wizard. There might, but don't have the books with me, be a warwizard of Cormyr prestige class running around in one of the Forgotten Realms books too.

But I must ask the question, what does a stinkin' mage know about combat?

I actually think its DoF that has a War-Priest which has some special battlefield oriented abilities. I also saw a good battlefield PrC for fighters, even though its not the subject, on this forum. Grizzled Veteran I think its called.

The Warwizard of Cormyr is okay, but its actually alot about destructive spells and not so much about commanding soldiers...

In this wizards case, she is a gun totin' wild woman with more kills than the rogue or priest. That's a matter of luck, to some extent, which is why I wanted to gear her more towards command.

The war-priest might work well, and i have that book, just never occurred to me. Thanks.

Seriously just take Perform: Oratory and the Leadership feat and your set to go...

You know, that's really a good idea. I had not thought of it, because she had been somewhat unwilling to let her spell progression slip too far, but one or two levels of bard would give her most of what I was looking for in a PrC.
