[Sell Me!] Castles!

Lo, I need your help, ENWorld! :D

I've got need of a small-ish castle for tonight's game - something suitablly creepy, with secret passages and whatnot, that can pass for originating sometime before the rebellion of William Wallace. Gridded or no grid, doesn't matter. It's a Pulp game, so exciting and fun stuff in the castle (aside from the aforementioned secret passages) is a must. Detail is good.

The other caveat - it has to be cheap ($5 or less) and/or free - it's a rent week, and I'm near broke as far as fun money goes. So, ENworlders, cartographers and sages, hit me with your best castles! Sell me, point me in their direction! The fate of the world (or at least some miners in 1930s Pennsylvania) hangs in the balance!

Edit: For a general impression of what I'm looking for, check out http://homepage.eircom.net/~qvc - obviously, the more elaborate stuff, fortified manor houses and such, and not the dull square tower houses.

Hmm.. That's not what I would call a small castle. You're kind of working at cross purposes, since you want an early castle with late period features. Edwardian Castles were not really huge elaborate affairs, they had work to do.

Perhaps Leeds castle would serve? If not here is a useful page of british castles.

A small amount of contradiction is fine - it's hero pulp, after all, and inconsistencies do crop up. I'm more interested in the entertainment value than true, solid historical veracity. :)

Aha! And that actually has two good contenders, between the Keep and the Castle. Danke, Mark! My players will undoubtedly hate you. ;)

You're quite welcome. I see no reason why your players should feel any differently than my own. ;)

And the winner is...the Castle. Perfect. I might get a little less use from the NPCs, since we're using MnM 2e for the campaign, but the descriptions and floorplans are plu perfect. I'm going to be writing a review for this when I get home - it's a bargain at $5 in PDF, and exact-o-precisely what I needed.

Now, off to the fiendish plotting... ;)
