Most of you will probably see the topic and just skip on by. But for those of you who do read this, maybe it'll be something you'll want to try.
First off, fantasy wrestling isn't like other fantasy sports. Other sports you have no real control, everything is simulated. Fantasy wrestling is something different. In a nutshell - it's a roleplaying game. You create a character, complete with background, personality, and goals, and throw them into the fantasy world of professional wrestling. It goes way beyond what you'd see on a typical wrestling program.
Everything in 'e-wrestling' is creative writing. There's two predominant forms it takes - writing matches and segments that would take place during a show, and writing off-show roleplays where are used mainly for character development beyond the gimmick of the wrestler. A lot of these outside roleplays include rela-life situations the characters would be in, anything from the death of a loved one, to drug problems, and some even go so far as occult and murder.
There are two types of federations. One type is known as an 'angle fed', where everyone involved comes up with pre-determined results based on the current story they're writing. This would be my preferred type of fed. The other type is a 'roleplay fed', where show outcomes are determined based on who write the better roleplays for that week (chosen by the person running the fed). Both have their advantages, and there is a friendly (and sometimes unfriendly) rivalry between the two types.
Anyways, we have a board simial to EN World (http://ewplanet.org), and a discussion came up on how to attract new people into our hobby. And here I come, to the largest message board involing roleplaying on the planet, wondering if anyone would be interested in a similar, yet differnt, style of writing. On any other board, I'd be called a geek for being a wrestling fan... but in the rest of civilization, I'm sure D&D players and wrestling fans are about even on geekness level.
If anything above intrigues you, I invite you to stop by our community forums, or check out a couple of feds just to see what level of talent goes into this, you may be surprised. The two feds I'm a part of:
http://fwowrestling.com - my character is Wippit Guud
http://oseentertainment.com - my character is Lillith
You never know. You mgiht find a new hobby. Even if you're not a wrestling fan in life, a lot of the people in these feds aren't. They just like to write and have their stuff read by others.
