Serenity/Firefly RPG - Anyone played it?

I've been watching this series pretty diligently lately and it's a great setting for a Sci-Fi game I find. I just randomly happened to have found that there is an RPG game out there for it, has anyone played it?

The game can be found here on amazon.com.

There were a couple threads a while back in the d20 Modern, d20 System & OGL Games forum.

I ran a one-shot at the last DC/MD/VA Gameday that went pretty well. I'd started a review but I've been negligent in finishing it. I like some parts (chargen, some of the comat mechanics, spaceships), like the fluff and writing style, but I don't think I care for the skill system.

Plus, you gotta love a book that comes with a Chinese-English swearing dictionary as an appendix.

I agree, the books is fun for being a fan of the show but if I ever run it again it will be with a different system.

What system would you run it with? Was there something about the existing system you didn't like?

Actually, Serenity is pretty much how I used to run Star Wars. We never did much with the rebellion or Jedis; we would havea ship of smugglers and just planet hop and find adventure. One of the best Star Wars campaigns we had the group was a Swoop Bike racing team, lots of fun there. So, I'd probably use Star Wars either d6 or d20 as those systems we have had experioence and good luck with.

The Serentity system is okay. It kind of does the job, we didn't play a lot of it.

I've played it a few times. It's a good, solid, system. Thiers nothing particularly great about it, but it fits the enviornment and is very easy to learn if your familar with RPG's-the basics of the rules (all common actions, but not charecter creation) can be tought in five minutes to anyone familiar with D20.

I played in a one-shot. The book's pretty impressive in terms of setting info and production values, but I wasn't really sold on the system.

I think that realism is one of the defining aspects of firefly: bullets instead of lasers, no sound in space, and an engine that isn't glowing lights. The system the book uses is pretty rules-light, and I found that to be a bit jarring.
