[Serenity RPG] GenCon?

Okay, this isn't a d20 game but I wasn't sure where else to post it! :D

Jamie Chambers of Sovereign Press and Margaret Weis Productions has confirmed in various places around the 'net as of late last night that the Serenity RPG will indeed be available for purchase at GenCon.

As much as I'd love to take off and head to Indianapolis, it just isn't possible (darn work, family and other obligations!).

Is there a kind soul out there that might be hitting the con that would be willing to pick me up a copy? I'd love to get my hands on it now instead of having to wait another few weeks for it to hit the store shelves. Not to mention Ron Glass (Book from the series and movie) will be signing the book on Saturday at the con!

I could Paypal the money to pay for it or whatever would work for the kind soul in question. I know this is a great deal to ask of someone who doesn't know me from any other faceless internet person. So, anyone? And don't all go out and buy it at once without hearing from me. I really want the book but I don't want to owe dozens of people money for dozens of purchased copies. ;)

Thanks!
Toric

We'll all have to wait for the conventioneers to come back, hauling their trunkloads of new swag, to tell us about Serenity, Mutants and Masterminds, Shadowrun... :)

*Making a mental note to plan a GenCon trip next August well in advance...*

Sorry, guys! If I had seen this thread before I left, I would have picked you up a copy, Toric. :o

Anyway, after buying New World Adventures by Atlas first, I picked up Serenity 5 minutes later and had Mr. Chambers autograph it. I was only at Gen Con on Thursday, and will be working all weekend, so I haven't been able to tear it apart much except what I paged through at the hotel Thursday night.

It's a gorgeous book; beautiful layout and lots of flavor information. Deckplans for half a dozen boats, including Serenity, and character stats for all of the crew of Serenity. I can't wait to get out of work so I can really get into it.

Side note: Saw Ron Glass and Mary McDonnel from BSG. I kind of feel bad for minor celebrities who have to sit there like zoo animals all day and sign autographs. It looks a bit demeaning, and both of them looked kind of bored and it was only a couple of hours into the show. That's why I can never bring myself to get an autograph from a celebrity, I feel too embarassed. An author signing a book I'm buying is one thing; I really enjoyed meeting some of the people who've given me literally thousands of hours of enjoyment over the last 25 years, and if they're working the booth, it doesn't seem weird.

Anyway, hope you get a copy soon! Cheers, Mike

Thanks anyway, MD! :)

I read this morning on gamingreport.com that the hardcover book sold out by noon yesterday. They are trying to get 150 more softcover books in today. Sounds like it's pretty popular with the convention goers!

Thanks for giving a bit of insight into what the book looks like!
