On the Cannoli this is the point I am trying to make. I can fully believe people are overpraising North End Cannoli. But it isn't a pastry you hear many people talk about these days. That said, I can sort of get the critique in that people might really be saying "What is the big deal with a cannoli? If you really examine it, is it worthy of praise?". I think its simplicity is why I like it. But I can understand a person not liking the shell, and not being a fan of ricotta I just don't see them as much as I did when I was young so I am not getting the impression they are widely rated highly by people I could make a snarky "How do you function" remark, but coffee is the ultimate drug and most people are so thoroughly addicted to it, we can't even imagine do the most basic intellectual tasks without our morning coffee. And quitting never works. Once you have lived on coffee regularly, it is like your body and mind never fully adapt to the change back to being a normal human. Also coffee is definitely an acquired taste. So not liking it based on the flavor is actually a pretty sound reaction. After all most people disguise the flavor with cream and sugar (or some variation of non-dairy creamer). I've been drinking it black with no sugar for ages and even after decades of doing so, I wouldn't describe coffee as having a delightful taste
