There have been many changes over the last few weeks at Dragon Scale Counters. Read below to learn more about those changes and what they mean. Feedback is always appreciated. #1 - We just do not conduct a lot of business via the telephone. In the end it just seems silly to continue paying for a telephone that just sits there. 99% of our communications has always occurred via email. We'd prefer all our future correspondence arrive to us through email at talktosomeone@dragonscalecounters.com. A telephone is still available for those of you who feel the need to have a more real time dialog with us, but understand it will be one of our personal phones when we call you. #2 - Credit card fees are killing us. Because of "relatively" low sales volumes (or perhaps a lack of business savvy on our parts) our fees have gotten so high that 10% of each sale is going to the credit card company. Additionally, we have grown more and more uncomfortable with the idea of personal information residing on our servers. While there is no indication our security has ever been compromised, we just decided this isn't our core competency. Companies like Paypal (who admittedly have had their own detractors in the past) can still process credit cards and echecks without opening us up to the risk and cost associated with direct card processing. We're certainly open to input from the community on other providers like Paypal who might be used for 3rd-party processing. #3 - New plastic miniatures have arrived on the scene, and the company producing them seems intent on producing a wide variety. As gamers we're all ecstatic to see this support finally come to the industry. As publishers we're of course less than thrilled. While we've always considered our plastic counters to be worth their price, we do realize that the ever widening variety of plastic miniatures overcomes some but not all of the obstacles plastic counters were meant to address compared to pewter miniatures. As a result we feel like it is time to lower our pricing. While our counters are all on sale because of our anniversary celebration, we have not yet determined what new price points we will set on our product. Constructive input from the community is of course appreciated. #4 - Lastly, to reflect that counters might not always be our focus, and because we'd like to be known for creating adventures and accessories in addition to counters we're changing our name to DSC Games. The url http://www.dscgames.com should be active within a few days. If you have any questions feel free to email us or ask here in the forums. We will try to answer everyone as quickly as possible.
