That is a good question, and one we have fielded a number of times since July when the updated rules came out. The short answer is it depends. To understand our opinion on the matter though you need a little history. We originally made some of our counters contrary to the original facing rules, and received a fair amount of criticism for it. So the next time we did a print run we scrapped what we had and changed some of them to adhere to the rules, even though we didnt really feel like it was appropriate. Then of course 3.5 came out and the very counters we changed are now incorrect again. It leaves a bit of bad taste in our mouth, especially when the facings that changed do not really make any sense outside of the need to make the rules convenient for a mini game. Some of our counters ultimately will be changed to reflect 3.5 rules, notably giants and the like. Our fire and frost giants were already 10 x 10, and we refused to change them the first time around no matter what the SRD said. Others we likely will not change, such as the horse and the dragon, as well as other creatures that are long in nature. Some monsters ARE long, and deserve to be depicted that way, even if it means exceptions to an otherwise well crafted rule system. I keep meaning to look up the old frost worm (5' by 50' facing IIRC) and see what its new measurements are in the rules... All that said, if we continue to make counters we MUST continue to look at the industry and listen to our customers, right? Input is always appreciated on this subject. Whether you use the 3.0 rules or the 3.5 rules I still believe the counters that were made (be they ours or someone elses) are a vast improvement over the scrap paper, candy, and coins we used before. I also believe that in leui of any other alternatives durable plastic counters make the best markers, even if they dont perfectly match the material in the book. Of course, I make them and have a lot tied up in inventory, so I may be biased. :D Now that I have rambled on I will try to close by saying I hope I answered your question and gave you some insight into what we are thinking. If I have not, or you have more questions, feel free to let me know.
