Just finished season 1, plus the first two episodes of season 2. So far, excellent metaphor on the workplace and personal life dichotomy we self-impose on ourselves, even at our own psychological peril. The journey from total hopelessness (just cogs in the machine) to the revolt (self-empowerment) of the Meta Data Refinement crew was fascinating to watch. Themes of middle management cruelty, divide departments to rule, fake psychological help, anonymus and distant Board, child of the CEO imbedded in the work place, cult of founder, and even work-wife/husband are explored. Fear of unionization and share holders displeasure triggers a shake up of internal management. It's clever. We do not known what the numbers represent, what are the (unready) goats for and the Gemma mystery is enough to keep us watching. Irvin's outie using automatic subconscious painting technics to try peer into his innie memories is fascinating and probably in league with Reghabi. Dylan, is the 'normy' with a family and children but he has courage and his revolted by his condition, enough to help the three others to see their outies lives. The new middle management, Milchick, is scary as hell, more so than Cobel, which used the predictable dictatorial style. I was lucky enough in 40 years of work, to work only 5 years at such a big business impersonal company. Obviously, as you probably can guess, I was labelled Troubled Maker by HR after a few months because I didn't follow the hierarchy and went to the source to get what I needed to get the job done in time. But I knew their secret. They need us more than they need middle management. We have power. I never feared to loose my job. During the 5 year period, I had two different supervisors, two HR representatives, and two Canadian CEOs. Meanwhile, little 'unimportant' me, stayed at my post and made sure we had sometime to sell, to pay our salary. Because I always want more RPG books!
