Even though there is plenty of material to argue both sides of the real world religious views impact on sex, I think we should avoid that here so that the thread is not shut down for bringing contentious religious disputes onto the board. To bring it back to Rashak's original point, my characters have seemed to have the most amorous encounters with clerics, there was that high priestess of Sune, goddess of beauty, a priestess of a Tiger god, oh and there was that night with the nymph I rescued from kobolds. . . In the games I have run charismatic adventurers have bedded barmaids, others have spent treasure and jewelry on streetwalkers and there was also entanglements with clerics again (one of the PCs fell for a cleric they had captured, when it was revealed she had not just been charmed by his spell but was still in love with him when the spell wore off). I would also argue that decadent city morals are a fantasy staple. Think of what you have heard of Rome. Think of Conan stories. Of course, rural areas are always reputed to be full of promiscuity as well, as many farmers daughters stories/jokes attest to.
