A soulless (at the time) vampire falling in love with a Slayer. He's become a second-rate Angel.Don't get me wrong; I like Spike. James Marsters (I always confuse that name with James Marsden, Cyclops) is a fine addition to the cast. But the only thing the character has going for him is fluff. He looks cool, he acts tough, he's got some great lines, and the acting is well-delivered. But at a deeper level, I see nothing in this character other than a two-bit vampire who doesn't seem to really know what he's doing. Buffy and Angel are far more compelling characters.</blockquote>
