I must be going crazy. I SWEAR I saw shade templates in 3.5. Am I losing it or just idiotic because I can't find it?

I see it in FR campaign book and its only +2 level adjustment? That seems wrong. Please help me or am I just idiotic and its what I thought. Sorry i'm sick and dilirious.
