Shadow Walk

How dangerous is it to use this spell? When 3.0 came out it was safe, then Manual of the Planes came out and made it so you can die in various painful ways on the Plane of Shadow. And that's not too enticing for a weak teleport spell a level higher.

No one has used this spell before? Can you be attacked while shadow walking?

Depends on whether your DM thinks the shadow plane should be a dangerous place.

Off-hand, I'd say that if you are just travelling along the borders of the plane of shadow in order to move quickly, you won't encounter anything (unless an NPC is preparing a carefully planned ambush).

But if you travel through the plane of shadow in order to reach a different plane from your plane of origin, then you might enounter something. (There is an encounter table for the plane of shadow in the 3.5 dmg)
