Shadowcavern.net

Hi,
My friend has just started this site and he has asked me to see if the lovely people of this forum would like to have a look around and maybe join the forums. He is also trying to start up an RPG business and will soon be stocking dice and other RPG products and hopefully in the future start selling gaming supplements and his own RPG system, so any advice, inputs or anything would be a great help.
Thanks a lot, this means a lot to him.

A couple of quick pointers (that struck me before I even actually looked at the content.

1. Its a bit too cluttered. The large font size with articles and graphics so close to one another makes it difficult to take in at a glance. You may want to see about spacing things out a smidgeon more to counteract that.

2. The page (at least in Internet Explorer) doesn't resize itself automatically. This means that if I want to see things on the right hand side I have scroll over to them. If there's one thing that will drive vistors away, its having to work to get the information from your site. I'm not sure what's causing it (perhaps you're using tables that aren't laid out right, or perhaps you're using the <PRE> tag to format text. You may want to test the site at different resolutions with different browsers to ensure that the most people possible can browse it with ease.

Now I'm off to the fun stuff (and the only stuff that ever really matters on a website): the content.

Thanks James.
The site need to be scrolled on the first page ONLY because of the way the tables are laid out. I can correct that when I have a few minuites. THe site is optimised for aresolution above 800x600.

Ill add a bit to the CSS to divie the size of the font too. The site can look fine but its not entirely perfectly compatable witrh every browser yet.

Thanks again.

Personally, I wouldn't use as many different colors for the main page. Also, the bright orange (or is it red?) borders of the boxes at the bottom and at the right side of the site look somewhat out of place for me; I'd like it better in a darker shade of orange (or maybe light gray or dark blue). Also, the blue background of of some of the items on the left side of the screen (e.g., Tabletop RPG Releases) is, IMO, a bit too bright for its surroundings...

YMMV, of course, LOL. :p

Anyway - a quite cool site, and I'm lookin' forward to seeing more from you!

hehe, thanks.

The color scheme was originaly completly orange and black. I created it on a day when id drunk wayyy to much lucozade!

Ive recently added the purple and blue scheme and I think it works really well but I havnt been brave enough to pull the plug on the orange completly yet. I should see waht it looks like today!

And on the subject of releases in awaiting the Adobe acrobat software needed to convert some of my manuscript to PDF format for use on the site.

If anyone here has any D&D adventures, big rules expansions or campaigns and would like them hosted on the site then please e-mail me with details. Id love some stuff from people here on the site.
