Shadowrun missions. Any advice?

I'm reading the shadowrun quickstarts because I might be in a shadowrun missions game Sunday.

Anyone here do the missions? Any advice? Is it a living campaign like LFR where I can take my character other places? Or is my character stuck and it's the type that influences the setting fluff?

Any thing at this point would probably be helpful. I want to be a prepared player... and the way my life goes I should probably prepare to be drafted to run shortly thereafter.
