shape change + animal growth (incl. smack :D)

There's a little spell combo that has been possibly errrated, but I'm not sure.
Take a druid (say, level 17 with the natural spell feat) who casts Shape change. He morphs into a dire tiger (or any other huge animal good for a fight) and casts Animal growth on himself...
IIRC, in using Shape change the caster's type changes accordingly. So, the druid becomes an animal-type instead of humanoid and Animal growth should work, generating a gargantuan dire tiger with doubled HD, BAB, increased strength and so on...:D
I know that Shape change can be used to take the form of nearly anything the caster is familiar with, but...there has been no spell to increase HD, BAB, abilities and saves. With Animal growth it would be quite simple.

Perhaps I've missed something...(except the DM rules-0 it ;))

Any thoughts?

Remember, a Druid of that level would could have a real Dire Tiger (or Bear) as an animal companion, animal growth it, and use that L9 spell on nature's Avatar from MoTW. It grants an additional 1d8 temp Hp/die, haste, and a +10 morale bonus to hit. If you really wanna go nuts, try adding Brilliant Aura from MgoF, which makes all your nearby allies' weapons (including natural ones) ignore armor and provides a +1/2 levels enh bonus to damage.

Hmmm...metihnks I shall write a smackdown about this soon....

I think that doing that kind of stuff is better than turning YOURSELF into a melee fighter. Thus, this is not overpowered. At taht level, you are much better off having your animaal companions (or other PCs) fight while you throw Firestorms n stuff.

As a Dire Tiger, bear, etc would you be able to cast the animal growth spell?

Yep,Natural Spell from MotW allows you to use verbal and somatic components of a spell while in a wild shaped form.

I agree with the others I don't see any problem with this combo (assuming the Natural Spell feat) nor does it seem particularly overpowered either. Or at least not any more overpowered then some other possible abuses of the shapechange spell.

So, then it becomes a two spell one feat combo. So, it doesn't seem that big of deal. I imagine 17th+ level combos like this too be very powerful.

Ouch...Well, why not using Nature's Avatar on the druid himself? Plus Aura of Vitality (+4 on DEX, CON, STR). Heck...I'm not a munchkin player, but I'd like to test that combo, just for fun.
Well, there's just one problem: my druid is at level 14 AND he has to survive RttToeE...

Yap, right. But my druid has no animal companion, 'cause he dislikes removing animals from their homes just to help him in tasks he could do alone. Not to mention to walk through cities accompanied by some (awakened) dire tiger, even if the animal has been shrinked (by animal reduction).
