Quick note to Sherlock about his avatar/profile: Holmes's address is 221 B Baker Street (not Bakers).

Unless of course you're trying to deliberately throw off Dr. Moriarty... :)

** I took this as an extra class skill because i thought it made a nice touch but I didn't want to sacrifice a class skill. It'll be totally useless unless we happen across a nightshade who is an ace bowler and is up for a game.

Physical Description: A man in his late middle ages, Angus is a short man, with the start of a paunch. He has short-cropped pepper-and salt hair with the beginning of a bald spot. His great pride is his curly, waxed moustache.
He is dressed in quality, sturdy clothing, and always wears a long trenchcoat and a hat, to protect him from the foul london weather.
He'll usually have a handgun on his person, for he considers himself as allways on duty.

Habits and personality
He spends his days at the office and "on the scene", often working very late. He is kind but strickt to his juniors, tolerating no ungentlemanly behavior, and is respectfull of his superiors.
He is a workhorse, no job is too small for him. "Details details details", he's often heard to say.
He never got married, as he is married to his work.
After work he'll either eat at his upper class boarding house, or he'll eat at the gentlemens club, where he enjoys some light-hearted banter with his fellow clubmembers or enjoys a good read or a pipe in front of the fireplace, a nice warm ale in his hand.
On sundays, off-course he'll either play or go watch the crickett, weather permitting.
Whenever he gets the chance he'll take a train to the moors or to kent, enjoying the hospitality of his many friends from Eton College.

He is an English gentleman from head to toes, always polite and respectfull. He is known as a kind man amongst the street urchins and small thieves, and is grudgingly respected.
Inside all this gentlemanlish behaviour is a core of steel. He might be soft on the small time croocks and prostitutes, but once he is on a trail of a major crime he never lets go. Currently there are two unsolved murders still nagging at him, one a brutal robbery of an elderly lady two years ago, and one a street urchin that was bound and drowned a forthnight ago.
Whoever is responsible will pay the price, if not soon then later.

Edit : yes I'm aware this is a suicidal character to take in a CoC setting, you really wanna go for the blind deaf dumb mute who couldn't spot Cthulhu himself if he/her/it bit him in the ass, but then again, where's the fun in that. :D. Can't wait to start really, hurry up guys........
Edit2: adjusted languages and weapon prof

Physical Description:
Tall and handsome, Friedrich Heinrich might very well be the epitome of the classic German-Prussian ideal. His looks are only marred by the two duelling scars running across his left cheek, though these are bound to improve his standing in traditional circles.
Usually clothed in full dress (with monocle, of course), he has also been known to show a rather shocking disregard for conventions of all kinds often attributed to his stays in wild Africa.

Habits and personality:
The only son of the late ambassdor Karl August Graf von Hardenberg, Friedrich spend most of his youth with his father, following the ambassador on his many travels almost around the world. Though a member of a noble family of considerable standing, Karl August went against every tradition when he spent most of his fortune on pursuits deemed too "common" in his circles: He considered himself the only worthy rival to the "fool" Heinrich Schliemann, the later "Hero of Troy".
Intent on overshadowing him, the Graf took great liberties with his ambassadorial position, using the frequent travels to search for extra-ordinary discoveries that might achieve his goals. Schliemann's discovery of the "Treasure of Priam" in 1873 came as a severe blow to his ambitions. The subsequent discoveries only worsened this condition and he took ill in the following years and never truly recovered, finally succumbing in 1885.

His only son Friedrich Heinrich has certainly inherited some his traits, but applied them in different ways. Never truly content with the ruling euopean focus of his studies, he fell prey to the lure of "unchartered" Africa.

In his youth Friedrich Heinrich got to study the American Civil War and it's consequences hands-on and participated in the Franco-Prussian War 1870/71 as a young officer.

From his 30th birthday on he increasingly travelled throughout Africa and the Near-East. As Fate would have it, Friedrich Heinrich came to witness several events of immense importance: The uprising of the Boors, the uprising of the Egyptian "National Party" under Arabi Pascha and the War of the Madhi.

Since Imperial Germany acquired its own colonies, he spent most of the last two years there, studying land and people with a special interest in their myths.

Background

Paul Schiff was born a Viennese Jew. His father, Karl Schiff, had decided to return his family to Judaism, thereby overturning a decision by his grandfather to assimilate into (Catholic) Christian Austria. (This was, partly, an act of defiance against what Karl saw as the growing anti-Semitism of Vienna.) Karl was not a wealthy man, and struggled to keep his family in the middle class, but he always managed to keep his children in Hebrew school.

At the age of 10, following a bitter argument with his father (which concerned his mother's death from consumption), Paul was sent to live with his Uncle Ludwig, who remained a Catholic, and was a wealthy and prominent Viennese lawyer with an estate in the countryside. Ludwig had little love for Paul, but he was magnanimous enough (monetarily speaking) in his care. Paul was given a room (or two or three), a nanny (during the years he needed one), a top-notch education, and plenty of activities to occupy him in his free time (equestrianism was a favourite). And, of course, Ludwig also saw to it that Paul received a baptism.

In his late teenaged years, Paul went to the University of Vienna, and (partly out of memory of his mother's fate) took up the study of medicine, where he performed quite admirably.

In the years that followed, Paul decided that his father had been right about one thing: anti-Semitism was on the rise. He spent time considering whether he ought to leave Vienna for greener pastures, but did not act until he received news, in 1882, of the discovery of Bacillus tuberculosis the bacteria that caused consumption. The man responsible was Robert Koch, a doctor working in a university in Berlin. Paul left for Berlin to work and study with Koch. The year he spent there was educational, to say the least, but he still was not satisfied with the social climate.

In 1883 he left for London. (His rationale for doing so was a bit whimsical, having to do with the recent death, in London, of the controversial economist Karl Marx. Paul had read some of his work, and had developed a nebulous interest in it--particularly the writings on religion.) Following a chance, very friendly meeting with an old acquaintance from Vienna (whom he had met through his Uncle Ludwig), he was introduced to Viscount Amberly (son of the Lord John Russell, former Prime Minister). He found the Viscount's views on various issues (discussed over tea) very much agreeable. In the end, he was convinced to stay in England.

Today he runs a profitable medical practice in London, consisting largely of house calls to some of the more respectable neighbourhoods. He also runs a rather less profitable side business, consisting of house calls to some of the less respectable neighbourhoods. Many of these latter patients happen to be Jewish. The reason for this is not given--he has decided not to discuss his background in any detail with anyone in London.

Description and Personality

Michael is quite slim, though not of course from malnutrition. The hair on his head is wavy, thick and brown, and thrusts up from his hairline in a bit of a mess. He wears a beard and moustache, which he keeps neatly trimmed. His eyebrows are thick and curved, his nose long and straight, and his red lips stand out against his skin, which is decidedly on the pale side. His clothing is well made and stylish (but not pretentiously so), and the black leather of his monogrammed medical bag (a gift from his Uncle upon becoming a doctor) is always kept well shined.

His demeanor is warm and friendly, although his gaze becomes quite intense and clinical when he is preoccupied by matters apart from social niceties. His English is not quite perfect, and his Austrian accent is still very much in evidence. (Think Schwarzenegger. Hey now, don't laugh, I'm serious.)

Physical Description: Dr. Michael Marley is a thin tall attractive man that is 40 years of age. While is very lanky, thin and not very strong he carries himself gracefully and projects the image of someone that is likeable. His sandy brown hair is beginning to show signs of gray.

Personality and Background: Dr. Michael Marley (most people will call him Michael) was always bright as a child but was often in trouble because other side interests had his attention. While he may have gotten disciplined his teachers like him and encouraged his intellectual growth.

Michael received a scholarship to Princeton University and finally graduated with a Ph.D. in Philosophy but through out his studies also was quite interested in Archeology and the Occult. Upon graduating Dr. Marley received a post at Miskatonic University in Arkham, MA. A couple years back he completed a study in the Sudan examining cults of pre-pharaoh rule. Upon arriving back to the States, he and some fellow professors at Miskatonic University have decided to start a catalog of recurring nightmarish images and themes between very different cultures.

Currently, Dr. Marley is in England working on the study. With him he brought a number of reference books, a weeks change of clothes, and a .32 revolver. He carries the revolver on all his travels for self-protection since he is not much of a fighter. He dreads the thought of firing it. He has only fired when he was being trained.

EDIT Added Text:
Ever since Dr. Marley returned from the Sudan he has been troubled by nightmares and approximately he has a night terror. Upon awakening he can not remember much about the dreams just fuzzy images.

FINALLY! Took me awhile. I kept reverting to BRP rules. I think I got them down now.
