The blade of a brilliant energy weapon will not interact with non-living material.


Therefore you can throw it through walls to attack people on the other side.

With a clairivoyance spell or other scrying, anyone can reek havok with their "brilliant energy javlin of returning."

If you want something really nasty consider what divinations or a ring of x-ray vision can add to this.

The brilliant energy makes "a significant" portion of the blade brilliant, not the whole weapon. So the point of the javilin is brilliant, the shaft isn't. You'll first have to find a weapon which exists only out of blade. Maybe the shiangham (sp) out of FR.

But that aside, It would be a cool option. Until you throw through and antimagic field, by accident, and you lose at least 72000 gp

Shooting through walls would be possible witha weapon that is entrely brilliant energy. I think the whip is the best weapon for this. Long enough to get through walls, everything minus the nadle would be brilliant energy, and you can attack with in many times without worry of losing it.
