Short story in anthology on sale now

Hey all,

So, remember how I'd had two stories in Amazing Stories immediately before said magazine tucked in its wings and did a nose dive into hiatusland? Yeah, good quality bummer there. They had expressed interest in a third story in the same universe (the talking sword stories), and I now have a perfectly nice third-in-series story that I am unlikely to be able to sell anywhere else.

But, on the brighter side, a story I sold last year to an anthology is finally out in print. The anthology is called "Clash of Steel: Book One -- The Reluctant Hero", and it's available for sale online now. Anyone with an interest can get to it at:

(Note: The anthology is a 64-page chapbook with five stories in it, and it sells for $5.95 plus a buck shipping and handling. The question of whether my story is worth $1.40 all by itself, to make five of equal quality worth $7.00, is entirely up to you. They're pretty long stories, though. And they all have fight scenes, from what I've heard... :)

I believe that the show was based on the magazine, which has been running since the 1920's, with occasional breaks as it goes under and then comes back. So it's possibly from the same title, but this magazine in this incarnation was out for all of five or six issues in late 2004. It may come back from its hiatus, but it also may not. :\

Don't see why he wouldn't -- given that it's a guy running this out of his home, it should be pretty easy for him to do the international shipping. I'll check with him.

And hey, if he doesn't, I'll e-mail you my story anyway. :)

Got this back from the editor:

"Foreign orders I can do, but it is expensive, the shipping is $3.30, plus the $5.95 makes it $9.25 (US)..."

I'd asked him specifically about Germany, so I assume that that's what he's basing it on. Australia is likely more. Canada is likely less. :)

It's called "A Duel of Fathers and Sons"... although I still like the original title, "A Calm Man, Hanof", which referred to an ancient king whose death at the hands of political adversaries led to the rise of the duels around which the story is centered. The title had to be changed because the poem that told that particular story got cut from the story -- justifiably, although I was artistic and snippy at the time (it was long and pretty much served as an expository dump, but I really liked the rhyme scheme).

The other cute thing about the original title is that it was an anagram of "Man of La Mancha". I was in an easter-egg mood when I wrote the story... :)
