Short Straws

Eitleog will mystically enhance his athletic skill and draw his swords as he moves to the right of the party’s current location. He will wait to see if the creature will, in fact, be aggressive before attempting to intervene.

GM: Metal cannot hold magic, so Astarte will need to use a stone tipped arrow. This is known by the character, though players sometimes forget. All actions are calculated to the advantage of true intentions of the character

Coldtree tends to place himself in the forefront of any potential danger. This encounter is no exception. The yeti drops back to all fours after its initial roar and charges toward him with longs hops of its unusual sideways canter, pushing with its powerful but shorter legs and balancing with its longer arms. It is quite a formidable sight, but Coldtree is ready.

However, coming out of the fog and back into view at a speed that almost defies comprehension, Kite launches himself through the air and slices at the beast as Coldtree is moves to defend himself from its rush. Kite slashes the beast across the back of its right shoulder, but the thickness of the hide reduces the effectiveness of the cut. Coldtree steps to his right and clubs the yeti hard in the ribs with his right bludgeon. The blow makes a resounding thud, indicating some damage, possibly a cracked rib. The beast spins with Coldtree, hitting him across the torso with a backswing of his long arm. The blow lifts the man and sends him backward several strides. He is hurt but undeterred in wanting to regain his feet.

Unnoticed by the two in melee, Astarte has already fired one of her stone tipped arrows. The tendrils of mist visibly darken in color as they curl away from its path. The arrow strikes true, but does not penetrate the hide enough to do any real harm of its own; however the eerie blackness of the mist surrounding the spot as the arrow falls away, indicates that something more has accompanied the arrow.

Sticking to his primary field of manipulation, Terrendale generates a visible bolt of lightning that strikes the beast in the side of the head, singeing some of the hair and causing it to vigorously shake its head. It is obvious that the beast is hurt and possibly weakened from the cumulative assaults, but it roars again in anger and frustration, still intent on driving the party away or killing everyone.
