Show me the ritual

Joker

First Post
I am looking for a ritual that makes someone immune to the spells of a certain diety (spells cast by its followers, not the deity himself). I remember something like this from second edition, spells and magic probably or one of the books for Forgotten Realms. It was a ritual that had to be done by a member of the faith whose spells you want to become immune to.

I was wondering if there was a similar ritual in 3e? Relics and rituals maybe?

I'm pretty sure there's nothing like that in 3e. Although there might be some third party thing.

Hmmm. Sounds like an epic spell to me. Have you though of looking at the epic spell seeds, such as Ward?

First of all, I'm afraid I can't just point you to the material you're looking for but I hope you don't mind a couple of suggestions instead. Naturally, these suggestions have a distinct house rule flavour.

I agree with Andargor; what you want sounds epic in nature to me, too. Given that you mention a ritual and I infer from your post that you don't have Relics & Rituals (which I don't either), extrapolating from the incantation system in Unearthed Arcana might not be a bad starting point, if you have that available.

The immunity you describe strikes me as a pretty big deal still. At least it would be IMC. Were a player to ask me about a ritual that granted SR - as opposed to total immunity - to such spells, I would consider allowing such a thing, especially if its effects were not permanent, without reaching beyond 20th level mechanics for the solution.

I just looked through Relics & Rituals (1 & 2) and the Epic Level Handbook and found nothing on the subject.

You mentioned that maybe you saw something about that in 2nd Ed. Forgotten realms. There were 2 books in 2E you might want to look at. One was called Powers & Pantheons. I forget what the other one was. You might want to look through those if you have them.
