More Cardstock goodness from World Works!!!
I have all these cardstock castles around, what am I to do?
Lay siege to them of course! Siege Works is a very unique set.
It has everything you need to lay waste to your card stock castles.
Battering rams, catapults, siege towers, trebuchet, ballista, ladders,
cannons, tents, and trenches.
Siege Works is one of World Works more advanced sets,
as far as construction goes, in my opinion.
New card stock modelers might get a bit flustered if this
was their first attempt at card stock modeling (The wheels and axles on the siege tower come to mind).
Veteran cardstock modelers will have little if any trouble. But, as with all World Works model sets,
they provide excellent step by step instructions
with pictures. So the newbie should not have much to fear.
Just take your time and refer to the directions and you will be fine.
I would suggest building your models in close vicinity to your computer
that way you can view the instructions without out printing them out,
thus saving you some ink.
The textures on this set are great. They offer different texture versions on the tower and rams. (ie armor plates/ no plates)
The set also has a working catapult and trebuchet.
They include non working versions as well for when you need a lot of them quick or just don’t want to take the time to build a working one.
A nice option as far as I am concerned.
When building the trebuchet I found that fishing sinkers worked better than
coins for weight in the basket.
The instruction mention both as possible sources for weight.
Sinkers come in different sizes and weights, so you can use less of them than the coins to achieve the same amount of weight, so I prefer them better.
Both the catapult and the trebuchet shoot surprisingly far.
I can easily shoot a paper wad all the way across my living room.
You may find construction comes to a halt on your Siege Works set
after you complete your first working catapult or trebuchet till the novelty of shooting paper wads wears off.
This set is a great companion set for Castle Works Ultimate.
If you own Castle Works Ultimate you will really want Siege Works too.
The possibilities with these two sets together is almost endless.
It would also compliment Arena Works or the older Castle Works Classic.
I would recommend it even if you don’t own any of the above mentioned sets,
as the working catapult and trebuchet are just plain cool.
World Works constantly amazes me at what they can do with cardstock.
They push the limits of what is possible and this release is no exception.
All in all Siege Works is a great set, it fills a unique niche.
I think it is one of World Works most over looked and under appreciated sets.
At $10.00 it is a bargain considering that you can print as many pieces as you want.
Pick it up, you will be glad you did.
