Well, I would imagine that the official press release will be out soon, but I'm informally letting my friends on this board know that I have resigned my position with Dark Portal Games.
This was not an easy decision to reach. The last two years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that I no longer have the time to continue with my duties with the company. A year and a half ago I became a new father, and I've found it impossible to work full time, freelance write, run a business in my free time, and be a good father. The company will go forward without me, and I fully trust that they will keep their current publication schedule. I am stepping down willingly and without regret or hard feelings towards anyone involved with the company. They are all a great bunch of individuals, and I wish them well.
In addition to spending more time with my family, my future plans are to recommit myself to writing, mostly in this industry, for various publishers. I have already been in talks with various known publishers that are interested in utilizing my talents on upcoming projects. I'm not naming names at this point, but I might say something when plans firm up a bit. In addition to this, I'm considering launching a new website that will be game related. What it will be, I haven't yet decided.
Because I no longer represent the company, I will no longer be using the handle DPGDarrin on these boards. From this point forward, my handle will be "Baraendur," which is the name of the 4th castle in the article I wrote called "Every Home A Castle," which appeared in Dragon issue 295.
In addition to this, if anyone wishes to contact me, I can be reached by email at darrin_drader@hotmail.com. Anyone that was working with me on various projects should now coordinate with Tony Bounds, whose email is tbounds@darkportalgames.com.
Being involved in a fledgling publishing company has been an experience, and I'm glad that I did it, but the time has definitely come for me to move on and pursue other avenues. I appreciate everyone who has been enthusiastic about the products that I've been involved with, and I trust that enthusiasm will grow as Dark Portal Games expands into print.
Thanks for two great years to everyone that has been there along the way!
