Will Silversheen affect a club?

Silversheen says

This substance can be applied to a weapon as a standard action. It will give the weapon the properties of alchemical silver for 1 hour, replacing the properties of any other special material it might have. One vial will coat a single melee weapon or 20 units of ammunition.

and alchemical silver says

The alchemical silvering process can’t be applied to nonmetal items, and it doesn’t work on rare metals such as adamantine, cold iron, and mithral.

But does Silversheen do a material check before taking effect or does it just take effect regardless (being magic and all that)? I would be inclined to think not, except that it would have been trivially easy to put the word "steel" in the the Silversheen text (ie. "applied to a steel weapon as a standarad action"). Such an obvious omission is a strong indication of intent to me. Is there anything official on the matter?

Since silversheen is clearly meant to be used on adamantine weapons (since it mentions "replacing the properties of any other special material it might have"), and you can't apply the process to rare metals, I'd assume that it would also work on wood.

Another question: if you have a club with metal studs, an iron-shod quarterstaff or the like, can it be alchemical silver?
