Howdy friendly Enworlders,
A lil over a year ago I posted on these forums looking for a fast and fun ruleset to run a mythical gods type game where players got to create a world and then manage their divine portfolios. That world has since grown and gone through a number of changes - and the novelty of playing as gods has worn out. Now that the setting is mature I want to move my players into a new game that features them at the head of mortal dynasties -> basically playing the worshippers they once courted.
Trouble is, I can't find a ruleset I like. The game needs to be playable by email, as it is really a sidegame to our primary tabletop D&D romp. However, as I work full-time I don't want to have to keep track of too many statistics (like micromanaging army sizes or having military engagements that last countless turns). As a result, most of the rules I have perused have not engaged me. I've checked out the old Birthright rules, some of the realm management D20 settings too (Fields of Blood, Cry Havoc, etc.). Typically, they are too complex.
When we played the original Mythical setting, we used the Divus Ex LARP rules (heavily converted to support an email format). They were very efficient - players had 4 stats to keep track of and a limited number of powers. For this ruleset, I was hoping for something that allowed players to build their capitals, expand their territory, and do battle with one another... along with some complications to make it interesting and less of a number crunch.
If you've made it to the end of this wordy post - any suggestions? :\
