EsSarch speaks with a deep, emotionless tone. "I spoke to you of the disease that plagues our city. In its early stages its symptoms are physical, and it can still be cured. That is the purpose of these mushrooms. But in its advanced stages infected creatures are enslaved to sinister powers that work against us. We have learned of a group of creatures who are beyond cure and who attack our city. We know where they make their lair, in a cave beyond the river. Kill them, and bring me an amulet we have learned is in their possession, and then you shall have the information you seek." [sblock=notes on the status of the game] My goodness, while I realized my "few days" had grown to much longer, I hadn't realized it was almost a month since my last post! Here's why this is such a challenge to me. When BigB submitted the adventure for approval, he just referred to a published module, without the usual summary. Manzanita approved it on the spot, trusting in reputable publishers to design coherent and balanced adventures. I insisted on a little more, so he sent a list of encounters and treasure before I gave it the second approval. But, I never saw anything indicating how they all fit together. I felt I needed to study the thread to get whatever clues I could. Even so, if I do finish it, it'll be a seat-of-the-pants job. I'm willing to give it my best shot, but I still don't know where I'll have this leading, although I have figured out what this next immediate quest is all about. If you decide to abort the adventure, I'd suggest going through this quest. Let your characters decide, at the end, that they're in over their heads, and the information broker will give you directions to get back to the surface in place of the promised information. In the meantime, Rowan's still with you as an NPC.[/sblock]
