Alric scowls at Lars in disappointment. "Why do you doubt his words? There are many from my homeland who owe allegiance to Coaltongue but not the High Inquisitor and who left for a life of mercenary work. I am one of these. Do you doubt my allegiance as well? If you must kill him because you do not believe his word then you must kill me as well, for the only assurance that I will not turn you in to the Ragesians for 10k gold pieces is my word." "I would kill a man for many things, but this is cold-blooded murder. He is unarmed, has capitulated with honor and even if he does tell the Ragesians the way they can find us, we now have horse, 2 days head start and soon will have a burning forest between us and them. He himself is no threat to us, he has nothing, no armaments, no money, except what we give him out of mercy." Alric becomes excited for a moment, "Moreover think of the message his defeat will convey. We were formidable enough to defeat his entire troupe! That would give our enemies pause and rally men to our sides! I say Let him tell the Ragesians were we be! We will cut them down just as surely and mount more glory upon our names! Instead if we were to kill him, we would have a reputation of cutthroats who would fear a man unarmed and naked in the cold because we fear he might tell our enemies 'they went thattaway'." Alric regards Lars for a moment, wondering if he has ever killed a man in cold-blood. Then believes he has said enough. "Sate your fear and paranoia with blood if you will, I will have none of it." Alric slams his bastard sword home to his scabbard to punctuate his point. Alric then goes over to one of the cantering horses and attempts to dig out a couple of winter blankets from their saddle-bags to give to the defeated men.
