Alric, having taken the last watch, has already awakened and fully armed and armored when everyone begins to stir. As his vigil loses its usefulness, he goes to tend to his steed, saddling it up, feeding it, and wondering what will happen to it after they reach the fire forest. He eats a small bit of rations, and swigs a small bit of water from his waterskin and curses wishing he had a pot and something with which to make tea. The sight and indications of the fire forest cause a tension in Alric's chest. Normally he simply regards fire as a force to be reckoned with, but the thought that this forest fire is not natural grips him with terror. Though Alric says nothing, attempting to stoically contain the fear and appear strong. He knows nothing of such things as this forest, being a simple soldier and trusting only to steel. All he knows is how relieved he will be as they leave it behind... if they indeed emerge from the other side. Passing the woman by the road stirs Alric somewhat. He reddens in the cheeks, more than cold has reddened them. He drops his gaze as he nods his head and puts a hand to his chest in salutation to the woman, with a smile upon his face. He is somewhat surprised that such a woman would be sequestered to a such a rural place. If they were in another time or another place (like a tavern with a drink in his hand and in his belly) he might try to win over this lady with the best flattery he could muster, or any poem or song he could manage with the circumstances. Though in this case he will leave the woman be unless she seeks to parley with them.
