The cook example you gave is not so clear. Check the boards, it has been a point of contention in the past here. Not all vocations are the same, despite what your high school counselor may have told you - some have a more defined product (i.e. craft like product) then others. The vocation sailor makes a WIS check for day in, day out functions as a sailor to earn his keep. Repairs on the ship would need an INT check, and the quality of the work would be kind of important. Hey, and it is a house rule.
