Sky One to remake Blake's 7

Interesting. I have, due to EnWorld suggestions, bought the 1st season on DVD. It wasn't bad, but its age is really showing and I can't bring myself up to buy the remaining seasons.

A remake sounds like a good idea to me.

Question, were the characters really that two dimensional? As I said, I've never watched the series, so I can't really judge.
Not really. Blake did lose his idealism, Avon ended up more of a reluctant leader than an eternal cynic and even Vila developed something of a spine in the end. The characters weren't paragons of dramatic complexity, no, but cardboard cutouts they weren't. And some were better developed than others. The actress who played Jenna, for example, reportedly left the show after getting fed up with being eye-candy for randy pubescent boys. Er, like me :D (I mean, come on, she had these totally hot leather outfits!)

I think what Felon means is that he probably watched it on video, years after the show was canceled. Sorry, just offering my two cents. :)
Actually, after spending a couple of years trying to get the episodes on DVD (i'm in whatever region they aren't produced for), I eventually gave up and went to the Internet. Even then, it was about three or four months of downloading to get them all.

Well, understand, it would be erroneous to say the show was scripted around its ensemble cast in equal portions. In the first two seasons, the bulk of character interactions were between Blake and his ruthless nemesis, Travis, and Blake and his antihero foil, Avon. In the final two seasons, Avon dominated the show, got all the really good lines, and played tug-of-war for command with his rival, Dell, who was equally roguish, but younger and possessed of a "top gun" kind of personality that clashed with Avon's relentless pragmatism. Throw into the mix of that a lot of consummate scheming by Supreme Commander Servalan (among Blake's 7's novelties and innovations was the heavy amount of air-time it gave to the villains).

Well, like a lot of shows, the first season was weak. It's the last two seasons where it really got good IMO.
