[QUOTE="cofbaron, post: 689303, member: 3901"] I like the idea of having a few undead animals pop up. Especially since undead are an extreme rarity in this world*, it should really freak out the players, and possibly throw them off track. The world is “high magic, where people can afford it”, kind of like technology in our world today. The city they’re in was once much richer and powerful, but still has a lot of life left in it. I’m trying to give the spiked chain character some challenges; he’s got Weapon Focus, Combat Reflexes, and some other stuff so that pretty much anything that gets within 10 feet of him gets hit with an Attack of Opportunity, plus a trip attempt, and if the bad guy gets tripped, he gets a free attack (Improved Trip, I believe). (I’m just glad he went with Expertise instead of Power Attack & Cleave… That would be just nasty.) Maybe I’ll make him perform some kind of check to see if he can hit without getting his weapon tangled up? The pickling / brine room will have lots of barrels, and an arrow or sword that misses it’s target could end up covering the floor in the nasty smelly stuff. More balance checks, in addition to the oil that’s splattered all over the place. I’ll definitely put this stuff up somewhere once I’m done, as well as the overarching campaign plot, once that’s finished. I’m just being cautious, because I’m not sure if any of my players read ENWorld (I don’t think they do, but I’m just being safe). Cecil * Five hundred years ago a powerful lich started the Necromancer Wars, which lasted about three generations and almost wiped out an entire continent. As a result, everyone is still extremely paranoid about undead. Dead bodies must be cremated (instead of buried in a grave or interred in a crypt), almost every town has an exorcist, and any reports of undead are likely to bring the nearest army marching into town.
