Slow Downs and General Nasty-ness

I have been getting errors for the last week or so, they tend to grow on you. Ick, what am I saying? Is there a way to put the forums on their on server, and not have them affected by the rest of the site which seems to get a lot more traffic? What would it cost, are they even on the same one now?

Both the main site and the forums are on the same, extremely beefy server. I think we were linked from somewhere; we've been getting a ton more traffic recently. Ay any given time, there are something like 1400 people looking at the news, and over 300 people on the forums.
As a result, the forums are a little slower than they normally are. We periodically take a look at how we're doing on bandwidth, of course. It'll be fun to see if this spike maintains itself. If it does - and that's not a certain thing - we'll evaluate hardware and the like.
