Smaller than Small

Was wondering if anyone could think of any sensibly playable races smaller than size small? (just try saying that after a few drinks!)

MM2 would be preferable - I'd look - but I don't have my copy with me at the moment and need to use it soon!

I've looked at pixie, but the LA is pretty huge for them...

I don't have the book myself, but I'm fairly certain that Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed features a PC race that's tiny, and I think similar to a pixie. Is it the faen? Or something else? Maybe some AU fan help out here...

I think it's the Grick, but unfortunately I don't have the book at hand either. It's tiny indeed, but some of the penalties were removed, to make it more playable.
But in hell, would like to play such a small character, a fightertype is almost impossible, only a WIZ or other main spellcaster could hope to gain something, but the material components and foci don't get any smaller because the user is smaller.
Rather poor idea at all...don't think you should consider that.

Good idea... I've got AU, it's great!

IIRC, it's the faen sprite. I'll try running it past the DM, although I think he'd prefer something from the MM2. I said the pixie because it was the only thing I could recall off the top of my head. Don't need it to be flying or shakspearean flavoured - just as small as possible for something playable.

Cool idea. I'd give that a go! A minute beastie wrestling with an oversized lump of bat poop is pretty cool. :)

Short version:
Basically, I'm making a cohort for my dwarven fighter - my last one died and we don't *need* anything for our party. So I thought I'd make a bard, complete with Profession: Hero Worship, to shore up my dreadful social skills and sing songs of my 'mighty deeds'. Ideally they'd be small enough to fit in a backpack or pocket... hence the hunt for extra small creatures.

no, no, no. Make it a paladin, and get a helmet with a saddle. :D. Pressure your GM for those nifty Poke-mount abilities. Slap yourself silly if you are actually taking this serious.

As far as small (or rather Tiny) goes, maybe try a Halfling or a Gnome thats had Reduce Person permanacied (sp?) on them. Or maybe ask the GM to give them a cursed (and non-removable) ring that makes him similarly Tiny.

Don't discount pixies. They've got improved invisibilty at will, which makes them excellent scouts. Sure, their hit points are low, but they basically never get hit. We have a pixie rogue in our party right now, and her AC is somewhere in the low 30's (at 9th level) - and that only becomes an issue for the rare opponent who can see invisibility. For the most part, she just flies around invisibly, getting a sneak attack on every single attack
