The producers have stated more than once that the series' mottot is "No flights, No tights". In an interview to Wizard magazine, they mused that the last minute of the last episode of the last season of the series _might_ feature Clark flying. But still no cape. In the same interview they said that Lois Lane is Chloe Sullivan's cousin, she's a bit older than Clark and the gang (about Lex's age) and she's attending Journalism college in Metropolis. In the comics, Lois first met Clark when she was covering the landing of the Space Shuttle Constitution in Metropolis' airport (celebrating the city's 200th birthday). An accident occurred and Clark (who was among the onlookers, still without wearing suit and glasses) flew up and landed the shuttle himself. Lois, who was aboard the shuttle (she's a world-class journalist, winner of a couple of Pulitzer prizes), approached him as soon as he landed the shuttle, wanting to know who was this guy in jeans and jacket who could fly and carry a space shuttle. Before they could exchange a word, though, the crowd rushed them and Clark flew off to Smallville, where Ma and Pa Kent helped him develop his dual identity. In the meantime, Lois' headline was "Misterious Superman Saves Shuttle", uknowingly christening the Man of Steel. She first met Clark as we know him when, after interviewing Superman, she was beaten to it by a rookie reporter from Smallville, who got a position in the Planet. That earned Clark her enmity for years! Oh, and by the time all this happened, Lois had already ended a romance with Lex Luthor... or "Mr. L" as he was called in Metropolis.
