Last season showed tremendous promise but there were a few weak spots and points where the producers fell back on old tricks. If they want to dump the whole bag on the table this season I will be a happy guy.
Mmmm. Smallville. One of the last bastions of genre TV left. And they left it right across from Lost. Oops. Either way, this ep was pretty good I have to say. I am starting to REALLY like Lois. She is everything that Lana isn't. I like spunk and the character is simply entertaining to watch. Lana doesn't suck but 3 seasons of the writers not giving her much to work with is a bit much. Hopefully, this tatoo/warrior woman/mystery/Joan of Arc/Taco Queen thing will spice things up a bit. Ooo!! Those wacky cave glyphs. :) I'm thinking that the shanking was to let Lionel know that Lex could get to him. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see it be Lionel having himself done in for reasons explained above. But Lois has a pretty good eye for all things Luthor/Kent at this point and she called Lionel being set up so she's 2 for 2. Side note: Who was sword-boy? Was he a character from the comics? I never read Superman so could someone in the know fill me in? Chloe coming back? All good. We all saw it coming and it's not like anyone tried to really hide it. I like her character so that works. The show hasn't taken that Buffy/Alias/Angel step of really shaking things up (no, having Pete leave doesn't count) by Season 4 but this is pretty close. Clark finally distrusting Lex, Lana with a new BF and Lois being in town is probably as close as we'll get. I'm looking for this to be the season that either makes or breaks this show in terms of "greatness." For examples (add your own) I think back to Season 2 of Buffy, Season 4 of Angel and Season 5 of DS9 as the point when the show REALLY kicked things up a notch in quality. Last season showed tremendous promise but there were a few weak spots and points where the producers fell back on old tricks. If they want to dump the whole bag on the table this season I will be a happy guy.
