Disappointed I must admit, I had alot of hope in this season of Smallville and though some points have become interesting, it has been overall disappointing. After the buffyverse disappeared I needed some good quality television. But whoever said that it has become too formulatic hit the nail on the head. I woudln't say krypto villian of the week, but the show is beginning the same way, ending the same way and the same problems in the middle. They wrapped everything up too quickly in the first episode. It was like watching the waltons. Comparing it to a good show, for instance, the third season of buffy. Angel supposedly died at the end of the second season. We didn't know he was alive and "right" until some episodes into it. That played a big part in the next season. Buffy died at the end of season 5 and we didn't know she wasn't right until 8 episodes in. Smallville. Two character supposedly died. By the second episode their up, about and taking on the first day of school. No lasting consequences and a big ole happy ending. Now we're stuck with too many chloes. I love kingdome come books so I love what their doing with their version of superman, but the show really needs to have some structured arcs and some long term effects and consequences. If characters are just going ot die and come back without any lasting effects it really doesnt give me much to invest in. I will have to agree with whoever said stargate is the best scifi show on television right now. It has truly taken over the farscape mantle ( though not as great a show as farscape).
