*Great* Finale! The ending sequence was the best thing they've done all season long. The possibilities they left open at the end were all at least least interesting, and some really cool. I hadn't thought of the witness protection program idea for Chloe- I shall pin all my hopes upon it. :( Further, I think the Lois Lane scenario has possibilities (My wife has been convinced of it for over a year - I think the case can be made that the groundwork has been laid, especially if they give her dark hair in a new identity. Not sure I like that idea, but it may indeed be the direction they're going.) I would love to see Lex poisoned and the newly shaven Lionel take over as Superman's bald nemesis. That is, I'd love to see it if I didn't love Rosenbaum's Lex just a bit to much to accept that they'd kill him off. Luckily, they drew attention to Lex's kryptonite-induced suvivability - so he'll be back. On a side note, I like that it's Clark's slightly irrational rage, rather than Lex's, that leads to the split between them. One or two complaints. First, I'd been on Clark's side in the whole Lana saga. There had always , before been a pretty good reason he'd miss an appointment or date with her, and, JEEZ, couldn't she show a bit more lasting gratitude for the number of times he's saved her life? But tonight's episode had Clark just plain forgetting that his boyhood love was leaving town supposedly forever ad that he was planning on taking her to the airport. He wasn't saving anyone, he wasn't lying immobilized on his barn floor under a green bale of kryptonite hay - he just plain forgot. Boo! Hiss! Next, also a Clark characterization complaint: He witnessed Kara casually kill someone, who was an innocent as far as Clark knew. That easily demonstrating at least as much Smallville-style badness as, say, Emily Dinsmore. His response is, well, no response. He seemingly never even considers it as a possible black mark against this girl's character and credibility for the rest of the episode.
