Sneak attack damage with spells?

rgard

Adventurer
Hi All, is there a feat or class/prc special ability that allows the caster to add sneak attack damage (gained from rogue or assassin class) to damage caused by a targeted spell?

Thanks,
Rich

No need for a feat. If you catch your opponent without his Dex bonus, you get to add sneak attack damage to your weaponlike spell (like acid arrow, ray of frost, shocking grasp, searing light, scorching ray...).

If the spell requires a melee touch attack, you can even benefit from flanking.

It's all spelled out in Complete Arcane.

Of course, Magic Missile is a targeted spell, but it is not a weaponlike spell.

So there's still room for a feat to do what rgard wants :)

My thanks to Hypersmurf, Klaus and Frank!

If such a feat were created, it should have exceedingly high prerequisites and/or be metamagic.

Why?

Because targeted spells always hit which means that once a rogue/casterX got this feat, they could deal sneak attack damage every round (especially once he got improved invisibility).

Plus it raises the sticky question of whether or not the saving throw reduces both the spell damage and the sneak attack damage.

I personally don't think it a good idea.

The description in Complete Arcane for weaponlike spells is what I was looking for this question. I had read the beginning of the feats section and didn't see it, but then found it in the next chapter after folks answered here.

Thanks,
Rich
