sneak attack instead of summon shadow

I don't think giving Sneak Attack would be balanced.

Other possible abilities:

Simple Weapons proficiency, possibly even Martial Weapon proficiency. Shadowdancers already have better HD than rogues, improving their weapon selection seems appropriate.

Blur spell-like ability, defined as gathering the shadows around you to conceal your outline. Fits in nicely with the Shadow Illusions.

If you are a Lamont Cranston fan (the character The Shadow, not the band) then ESP spell-like ability would be appropriate. Psi Handbook might have a better fit.

Giving a minor circumstance bonus when in shadows, such as an AC bonus or something akin to the bonus an earth elemental gets when the opponent is in contact with the ground. Maybe give a bonus to attack when opponent is in shadow.

Obscuring Fog spell-like ability that is based on shadows rather than fog.

Hope some of these ideas help.

If you like spell-like abilities, then any or all in the line of Silent/Minor/Major/Persistent Image spells could work, also possibly Shadow Conjuration. Though it's REALLY powerful, giving a demon-like ability to see in magical darkness would also fit.

For supernatural shadow stuff, summoning darkness to improve hide rolls would fit well, so would something like a constant change/alter self spell. I only have a passing knowledge of white wolf Vampire games, but the Lasombra clan has a discipline called Obtenebration, which is manipulating shadows and shadow-stuffs. You could maybe also find inspiration there.
