No. they want us to buy their new book, but they're not primarily marketing it to us. We're not their enemies, we're not being persecuted or hounded out of the hobby or anything. We're just a relatively small minority market segment, and we'll get the attention that our numbers warrant. On the whole from what i see here I'm cautiously optimistic. There's certainly been some changes. The whole thing about gatetowns being towns in the Outlands centred around a (apparently stable) portal/gate rather than being a town trembling on the edge of falling into its adjacent Outer Plane is a change, and to me kinda implies the old alignment-on-alignment conflict to strengthen 'your' Outer Plane so it gobbles up more of the Outlands seems to have gone away. I'm sad that the Inner Planes seem to have faded into the background, I always found them more interesting than the Outer, and they deserved better than to be gobbled up by the Elemental Chaos (the planes of Earth, Salt, Ash, Crystal, Ice etc in particular all seem very un-chaotic, which always made this seem a stretch to me). But if WotC were going to retcon that old bit of (imho bad and dumb) 4e lore, they would have long since done it by now. At least it seems they still exist in some form. Shrug, we move on. Sixteen gatetowns implies gatetowns only head to Outer Planes, which is how it always was. No new portals to the Feywild or Shadowfell or Far Realm or anything like that. The art really works for me actually. I could do without the curly tusks on every roof in Sigil, but I love Excelsior. Not sure about the structure of the campaign. Playing one PC to level 10 then jumping straight to level 17 in possibly a completely different class is a cool concept, but dumping a 17th level character on a player who hasn't played and developed them organically from early levels is going to be tough for some. High-level characters have so many options etc that they can be daunting at the best of time. Analysis paralysis can easily set in. Definitely best suited to experienced gamers I think. No it isn't, get stuffed. If I choose to run a completely different planar cosmology where there is no Sigil in my home campaign, I'll damn well do it. EDIT: not ragging on you here @brimmels , you just happened to be the OP who quoted the article I'm getting curmudgeonly about!
