Hi Guys, Ive been searching for AGOT rpg thread since i picke up the PDF last week, it has been so frustrating with the GOO site down, iknow you guys have got a sh*tload on at the mo so np. Its good to see some of the regular posters to the site here as some of the stuff on the goo forums was spot on. Having now read the book ive gotta say it is truly an outstanding piece of work and i really cannot wait to start a game. A few people here have taed how they think it is going to be a hard game to GM and from my perspective i can only agree, within the group that i Play with i have a number of different types of players, and with a number of them are of the opinion that if its not high fantasy then its not worth playing the other pain is that these two particular players have not read the books. My other two players are what i would call thinking players they invest the most time in their characters and are willing to give anything a go (they are also the ones who have read the books) Please stick with me their is a point to this post So my decision is this, With a lot of extra work i have decided to set the time frame for my campaign at around the time of the third book (a storm of swords) The main reason for this decision is that slowly but surely magic has started to enter the world, Whilst i do not want magic to overshadow, unbalance or dilute the Westreos mythos i feel that any campaign i run will not stand an earthly cahnce if magic is not at the very least accesible, (all be it only open to prestige classes) I have started work n some prestige classes that will allow a small amount of magic to be accesible, even then it will be rare and certainly not far reaching, Healing will be vv rare. Magical items, As the effect of the Dragons starts to increase the magical aura of westeros so previously mundane ites will sart to develop magical effects, valyrian steel is the most obvious benefactor, however again to limit the effect this has on the world these will still be fairly rare occurences, i will use the covenant item system (midnight) to ensure tht the world isnt awash with highly magical artefacts. The whole reason for this post is to get feedback from like minded gamers. am destroying the mythos of Westeros purely to make my life as DM easier. Please feel free to give me feedback i have joined so that ican get campaign ideas, hooks, character writeups, character classes (PC and NPC pyromancer anyone). Bsically anything that helps. Chhers :)
