To this day, the NES remains my favorite console system ever. So many memories... Playing Super Mario Brothers 3 (my favorite NES game ever) over and over again until I knew every level inside and out. The Contra code that gave you 30 lives. Staying up all night playing two-player River City Ransom at a friend's house. Finally beating Ninja Gaiden after literally months of trying (I swear, some of those old NES games were near-impossible to beat). Aimlessly wandering around in Dragon Warrior for hours on end killing monsters and getting enough expirience to level up so that I could enter a more difficult area. Never being able to win Battletoads, and finally putting it away for good in frusteration. "I'm sorry, but our princess is in another castle." "Master using it and you can have this." "I feel asleep." "A winner is you!" The nighttime music from Castlevania 2 (I still occasionally find myself humming it). Fighting Shadow-Link in Zelda 2. Never being able to beat Castlevania 1, giving up on it for a few years, getting it back out and finally beating it after a few weeks of trying (the Grim Reaper was the most frusterating boss to fight ever). Playing against my cousin in Ice Climber. Finding out Samus was a chick in Metroid, and the code JUSTIN BAILEY. Crystalis. That game just plain kicked ass. Cheering out loud the first time I beat Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Thinking "Damn, this is cool!" when I finally got the airship in Final Fantasy. Subscribing to Nintendo Power magazine and eagerly awaiting a new issue at the start of every month (that is, until the mid-90s rolled around the magazine could have easily changed its title to "Pokemon Monthly"). Building my own race tracks in Excitebike.
