So if Amazon screwed you, what are you going to do?

If you got screwed by Amazon, what's the plan of action?

By "screwed you" I mean delayed your order because they presumably didn't order enough gift sets and they are now on back order until July or so.

So what are you going to do (are doing)? Only vote in the poll if you've been screwed.

I'm sucking it up and waiting. I don't want to pay the extremely overinflated prices the LGS's charge here in New Zealand. Plus, I can use the time to keep working on my campaign setting ... and I do have access to the books. I just don't have my own hard copies. *Ahem.*

I'm thinking I might uncombine my order though and get KotS by itself. I was going to do that but then decided to wait. Now I wish I hadn't. :P

The annoying thing is that I preordered way back in February but about a month ago or so, I was looking at the prices and was thinking that the "we'll only charge you the lowest price for a preorder" thing wasn't working, so I placed a second order, compared prices, then accidentally cancelled my original instead of the new one! I bet that's why I'm having to wait for the second printing.

Of course, I'm really kind of hoping that the second printing will have had some more editing done to it. If so, then I'd rather have a second printing than a first. But we'll see. It's likely it'll be exactly the same.

They tell me I'm still getting my books on the 9th, but they haven't shipped yet. I did choose one day shipping... If they aren't here on the 9th I'll look for a deal on the gift set elsewhere or get the individual books. It's not that big a savings over the current discount on the single books anyway.

My group has no plans to switch to 4E any time soon (we're currently playing Basic Fantasy, then moving to Champions). I'm getting the books just to see if it's worth playing down the road, but in the meantime, I don't mind the delay.

In fact, I'm waiting for more reviews to see if I should hold off for a later printing - how many errors, how bad the print job, binding, etc. What little I've read so far has me more than a little concerned. So again, waiting isn't a problem for me.

Cancelled my Amazon order, and ordered at Buy.com. Got it cheaper, and it shipped 3 weeks before amazons new date (The same day I ordered).

Amazon pre-orders are essentially gambling. Anyone who tells you otherwise is unfamiliar with the history of the exercise. They don't charge you until they ship. Deal.

Amazon is telling me via email that they'll have the set on June 16th and will ship mine then. I'll wait for now, but if it's longer than that I'm going to

. And just see if I don't!

IME, Amazon orders of any kind are a crap shoot. They may ship, they may not; you may be charged, you may not; etc. When they do their job, they do it well but (again, IME) expecting any kind of consistent quality from Amazon is unrealistic. I've ordered stuff from them that showed up within a week, and I've ordered stuff that showed up more than a year after the order was placed.

I need to be able to vote twice, really. I left my order with Amazon, but also went to Pandemonium and picked up a copy of the PHB. Looked like they were doing pretty good business for a 90°+ Saturday afternoon. I figure since I'm the one pushing 4E heavily in my gaming group, won't hurt for me to contribute a communal copy.
