I tend to start threads when I have questions. As I have learned the rules, I have had fewer questions. I don't need to ask how to make a Magmin PC race, because I know enough to figure it out for myself. The threads I start now are mostly probably unnecessary, as I tend to answer my own questions myself after a coupe of posts, or crowd projects where I cannot build the breadth of material needed as quickly as I want to. Threads that fit this category include my Random Encounters thread, my "Thousand Disciples" thread, and my recent "Class X as a Warlock" threads. Other than that, I have mostly let my worldbuilding threads die off since I have slowly found enough confidence in my capabilities to know that whatever I am doing won't destroy the game. Because of this I tend to only get involved in Rules discussion, or poking holes in others arguments if I see a big enough hole to poke at. Assuming I am not a freak of nature, there are others on these threads in a similar position to me, who don't actually need help with the artistic side off things. That said, the few times such a thing does pop up there are some good people in the community that go out of their way just to say "Cool Idea!".
