Looking for suggestions on solo adventures. Preferably downloadable and/or free. Something low level that I can run one of my kids through when he's got a D&D jones but we can't get the family together to play.

You could try the Thievery 101 adventures from Wyvern's Claw Design. They're downloadable, but not free ($5.00 each).
