So a few questions come up - succinctly: Do you have to win an opposed grapple to move with your opponent? Not if they are using the improved grapple feat. If they use the regular grappling, they would not be able to move, or you could use a bull rush type house rule that would allow it. If no, what method do you use? If yes, is this the grapple check that includes the -20 penalty? Yes. If yes, do you also deal grapple damage or do you require the constrict ability to do this? If they do not have the constrict ability, they can do another grapple check at -20 as one of their attacks the next round to do grapple damage If yes, how far can you move? your movement rate, and if the person you are draging takes you to medium or heavy, then you would be affected normally. If yes, does this movement provoke AoO normally (would the opponent also be provoking AoO by his movement despite it being involuntary - again refer to bullrush analogy). If the creature moves through a threatened space yes, but not as a result of the grapple like a bull rush if it is using improved grab. Would this movement ability with a winning opposed grapple apply to any creature? In other words, do you need the improved grab ability to utilize this grappling ability? I only ask because the -20 rule was extended to creatures without improved grab. I am not sure what the sage said, but I would only allow it with the improved grab feat. The idea with improved grab is to allow monsters with tenticles and such to grapple opponents without having to sacrifice the rest of it's abilities. I also thought improved grab removed the AOO that you would normally get with a grapple attempt? TLG
