Me and my girlfriend created this village not to long ago. Since the Satyrs were posted, I figured I would share. One day, a satyr was out traveling the Feywild. He was a wanderer, and rarely stayed in one place for long. He came to a lush field of rice that was naturally growing. He wandered through the flooded field of rice, and was immediately attacked by several small eels nipping at his feet. It was pouring down rain and it was already dark. Somee settled in on part of the higher ground that was soaked with water. He set up his tent and set to creating a fire, which is not easy to do in the rain. He cooked up a pair of the eels, which turned out to be excellent eating. As night turned into day, a heavy fog descended onto the field. The fog lifted after only thirty minutes. The rain stopped and Somee looked to the sky. He saw something strange... a sun. He realized he was no longer in the Feywild. He had heard of the prime material planes, but he had never been to one. The satyr ventured around, and realized he was in the basin of an old, inactive volcano. The field of rice perfectly sat inside the basin. The rainfall from the Feywild, coupled with the low lying basic of the volcano made a perfect habitat for rice, the eels and strange birds that resembled small, light green feathered ostriches with bright yellow beaks. Somee dubbed them Tamras, after a long necked girl he had once been in love with. The walls of the basin were nearly forty feet high. Somee spent the day exploring around the basin, finding himself on the outskirts of an extremely tall mountain range. The satyr stayed for nearly a week, going to the plane of Padonthia each morning and exploring the small basin. Eventually he decided to explore Padonthia. He made his way up the mountain range until he came to a dwarven mining village, called Eastgate. From the dwarves, the satyr learned two things. One, rice is not grown anywhere that they knew of because there is not enough rain in this hot, arid region and two, the satyr loves dwarven ale, and something they call Padonthia wine. Somee set off back to the rice basin and returned to the Feywild. He took with him a jug of ale and a few bottles of wine. He shared the wine with his local tavern. The patrons loved it. The bar owner offered him great deals of gold for the tasty beverages. This is when Somee had the idea. He gathered as many satyrs as he could and they settled the rice patties. The satyrs dug homes in the basin walls and tended to the rice by day. By night, the satyrs would eat, drink and be merry. They built a wooden wall around the rice patties, so that every morning they could kill any strange creatures that had gotten caught in the fog. The satyrs learned the eels and tamras were important to the rice. The satyrs began trading the rice with the dwarves for wine and ale, and sold the wine and ale to cities in the Feywild for hefty profits. The village eventually became known as Someel after its founder, Somee, and the tasty eels that make the basin its home. Adventurers also pay the satyrs in wine and ale to be allowed to use the rift to the Feywild. Someel Village: Population 517 (100% Satyr) Government: Somee and several other satyrs own the rice fields, with Somee being the majority owner. All decisions are made through these satyrs and is somewhat a kin to a city council. Imports: Padonthia Wine, Dwarven Ale Exports to Padonthia: Rice Exports to Feywild: Padonthia Wine, Dwarven Ale The Drunken Tamra This tavern is dug into the side of the basin and is the popular after hours spot for the satyrs to relax after a long day in the fields. Outsiders are generally not welcome, unless they bring gifts of alcohol to share with everyone.
