Most of my "tearjerkers" come from LotR. The Two Towers. I teared up several times through that movie, every time I've seen it. The speech of "No parent should have to bury their child" had me bawling. I cried when the mother sent her children away as the villiage was set to be burned. Wormtongue looking over the gathered army of Saruman; the look on his face says to me: "What have I done. I wanted power, for my desires to come true, but not at this cost... not at this cost...". The charge of the Riders of Rohan down the hill is an awe-inspiring moment that brings a tear to the eye. Likewise, the charge of Theoden and Aragorn, with the Horn sounding in the background, is a similarly powerful story. "There won't be a Shire, Pippin!" I believe that line got the biggest response out of me. The complete loss of innocence, the realization of what true evil is, and knowing the oppression of inevitibility. It wracks me with sobs just thinking about it right now. The trailers from Return of the King really get me worked up, too. Aragorn's speech is powerful and moving. The scene of the forging of "the sword" gives me goosebumps, as does the shot of Gandalf's staff flaring to life in his charge. And, the most powerful to me from the trailer, is Merry's "We will see the Shire again!" That is as powerful as his other quote from above; the diametric opposite. It speaks of rising from the ashes of war, of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Most of all, it speaks of hope.
